We reached the expired meter by the time we realized the keys to the car were in a purse three+ blocks away! While one of our group went to retrieve the keys, my two friends and I waited by the car. That's when Arthur showed up.
Arthur greeted my guy friend, and asked for spare change. A conversation ensued between them and before long the keys were brought to us. God gave one of my friends an open door to pray for this man. I'm always glad to see people going about their business who are willing to let someone on-the-spot pray for and present Jesus to them.
Just as they said Amen, one of my friends spoke up and said,
"Two things. One, you and your lady just went through something...and, your Grandfather was in the ministry. He taught you a lot about God... You know what you need to do." (the "..." don't indicate pauses in what my friend was saying, rather they indicate omitted statements that I don't remember too well. :) )
Before my friend was done saying all this, tears began welling up in Arthur's eyes. He listened closely and was frozen except for his slowly nodding head. His eyes shifted, and he softly said, "That's right".
The wonder of what just happened gave place to gladness! You just had to chuckle in amazement! WOW! HA HA! :D NO WAY! YES WAY! Each of us were struck by how God just did something that would be impossible by mere human guesses/intuition/means. That is what I call a miracle. :) We then gave Arthur a round of hugs and a New Testament to equip him to seek Jesus and renew his mind. "I need to go, before I start crying!" he said after all this.
It was 1:30am, and we agreed with him. With the keys now on hand the time had come to go home.
What a night!!! Jesus just showed this man (and us) an additional length that He goes to woo the world that God so loves.
