Minnesota Move in one Week

I keep recounting the events of the past 48 hours, bewildered by how quickly things have fallen into place.

If I could look God in the face, I'd be hard pressed to keep from gazing at Him with eyes bugging out and jaw dropped.

Here's the scoop:

A road trip invite to a New Years Prayer Conference called "OneThing" came my way recently. My sister lives in the city of this conference, so I made tentative plans to visit her and my brother-in-law one last time before moving to Austria. Unfortunately, the Road Trip Driver began waffling on the idea, and considered canceling the trip a few days ago. No Bueno :(

Meanwhile:
Over the past few weeks my resources I've been living on, dwindled. As you know, I had expected to depart for Austria already.

As time passes before my departure, working at Bethany International would be my next step, to avoid going into debt or freeloading on my parents. Bethany International is capable of giving me temporary Room and Board in exchange of my time working in their offices. I originally conceived moving there around the middle of January if I had not yet reached my support goal by then.

Then I began to think...Why wait until after I've gone completely broke? Perhaps it would be wiser to go to Bethany before my checking account gets to $0.00.

Last night and today I called the Staff of Bethany and proposed this arrangement, and they are 100% on board.
I could start working and move to Minneapolis as soon as January 5th.
My sister would be all too delighted to have me around for over a week, so I have a place to stay, and time to spend with her.
Residents of Bethany (and friends of mine) will be at "OneThing" and have to make the trip back to Bethany International the very same week I can move in.
You should know: Bethany International is 6 hours from the "OneThing" Conference. A ton of Bethany People will be there...

Last night it all sounded absurdly feesable...
but still absurd
...so I decided to pray for God's leading,
Bethany International's approval, and
wait to hear what the Road Trip Driver would decide.

Around noon today he called me to say he sensed God really wanted the trip to still happen!
So I have a way to get to the Conference and my Sister's Place.
And after the conference, if all else fails (ie: more spacious carpool can't be found), I've been invited to smoosh in with a mutual friend who lives in Minneapolis, and get to Bethany International the week of January 5th.

WHAT WILL CHANGE: Most of my contact with potential and established financial/prayer partners is by phone and e-mail. This means moving to where I can earn my keep (Minneapolis) in the mean time (before moving to Austria) will not greatly hinder those connections, and perhaps I will make new ones where I'm headed.

Thank you for reading this dizzying update of how things are about to dramatically change. It will be refeshing to attend this conference, but it will be a swift departure from California.

The door is open, I sense God's smile over this move, however unexpected...

Keeping up with Him as best I can,
Yvonne Cadena

  1. I love this, it's exciting. It totally amazes me that you got the call about the road trip being definite today of all days, right when you were praying for direction. Amazing!
    Love you!!!
