What is happening?

This is a tremendous time for our nation, families, faith! I have complete confidence in God's heart toward us all. But that's not easy. His heart is for our full allegiance, not to be an add on to our agenda. He remembers that we are "dust" and shows compassion.

A week ago someone leading a small group asked, "How has the financial shakiness of this week changed the way you connect with God? How has the economy's condition actually touched your life?" Some who are construction workers, shared how light their hours have become. A person in the electronics field was layed off. When it was my turn, I shared the general standoffish-ness of giving to a missionary, and with the economy's instability, there is even greater reluctance to offer a portion of one's income to missions. "So the boat is sinking...and you are not panicing?" And I said something to the effect of, "No...I have bad days, but overall, I really sense God's favor and a peace about the whole thing. I'll stay in this boat, until God says, 'Swim', but I'm not jumping ship."

I figure as long as the pet accessory stores stay open, and people have vacation homes, we have the resources to provide for ministries that are responding to His call. It's really uncomfortable for financial adjustments to be made. It's more than "uncomfortable" sometimes...especially for someone providing for a family.

In times when my faith was weak, my faith community stood in the gap for me. And for those in a struggle that looks unsurmountable, I am interceeding for you, your company, your children, and your faith. Keep the Faith. Be eager to do what is good.

"For the grace of God that brings salvation, has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say no to ungodliness, and worldly passions, and to live self controlled upright, and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us, to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people, that are his very own, eager to do what is good."
Titus 2:11-14

His Very Own,
